Kanye West (Ye) was denied entry to the United Kingdom, leading to the cancellation of the 2026 Wireless Festival. Several advertisers had previously pulled support.
Organizers of the event, which was slated to take place at London’s Finsbury Park July 10 – 12, provided the below statement regarding its cancellation:
The Home Office has withdrawn Ye’s ETA [Electronic Travel Authorization], denying him entry into the United Kingdom. As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled and refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.
As with every Wireless Festival, multiple stakeholders were consulted in advance of booking Ye and no concerns were highlighted at the time.
Antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent, and we recognise the real and personal impact these issues have had. As Ye said today, he acknowledges that words alone are not enough, and in spite of this still hopes to be given the opportunity to begin a conversation with the Jewish community in the U.K.
According to the BBC, the U.K. government’s decision to deny West’s application for entry was “made on the grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.” Recent years have seen West show support for antisemitism and other anti-Jewish positions, including selling merchandise with Nazi symbols and recording a song titled, “Heil Hitler.”
In a open letter published in January, West pointed to a possible head injury suffered in a notorious 2002 car crash as a potential source of his recent controversial and erratic behavior.
