Jimmie Vaughan Joins Bob Dylan At Summer Tour Finale In Nashville

Bob Dylan concluded his 2026 Summer Tour at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater on Saturday. Dylan welcomed opener and renowned guitarist Jimmie Vaughan for a Bo Diddley cover and more in Music City.

Vaughan has been aboard the bill in the past few weeks of Bob Dylan’s summer tour along with acclaimed singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams. The trek has seen something of a revolving door of guitarists joining Dylan after the departure of Bob Britt and Doug Lancio from the band, most notably Julian Lage performing several shows with the legendary singer-songwriter including Saturday night in Nashville.

Dylan launched his Music City concert with “Watching The River Flow.” Bob included additional older favorites such as “It Ain’t Me, Babe” and “When I Paint My Masterpiece.” Dylan also performed five songs from his 2020 studio album Rough and Rowdy Ways including “Black Rider,” “Crossing The Rubicon” and “I’ve Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You.”

Vaughan first emerged to reprise his guest role with Dylan — after joining him in 2024 — in the fifth song slot for Rough and Rowdy Ways‘ “False Prophet” followed by a take on Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell,” which saw the brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan peeling off some smoky blues riffs. Vaughan returned for the Rough and Rowdy Ways cut “Goodbye Jimmy Reed.” Dylan then closed the concert with the recently revived “I Shall Be Released.”
