Julian Lage Rejoins Bob Dylan Tour At Mystic Lake Amphitheater

Last night at Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee, Minnesota, Bob Dylan's already-fluid 2026 tour lineup shifted again, the fourth change this summer. Dylan went back to the two-guitar sound for his home state gig as Julian Lage rejoined the band after missing the last five shows.

Joel Paterson had been the lone guitarist in the band since he made his Bob Dylan debut in Austin on June 29. The return of Lage gave Paterson a chance to show off his skills on slide. Julian Lage stepped away from the tour to fulfill previously scheduled shows of his own.

When Bob Dylan kicked off his Long Hot Summer Tour '26 in Portland, Oregon on June 4, he was backed by guitarists Bob Britt and Doug Lancio, bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Anton Fig. The first lineup change came on June 17 in Santa Barbara, where Lage replaced Doug Lancio.

Julian Lage and Bob Britt shared guitar duties for seven shows until Britt abruptly quit Dylan's band on June 27. With Lage unavailable, Joel Paterson was called in as the lone guitarist in time for the show on June 29 in Austin.

Lage was back in the mix Monday in Shakopee, though he’s scheduled for two European festival appearances on July 11 and July 23. Dylan brings the latest iteration of the band to Paterson’s hometown of Chicago tomorrow (Wednesday, July 8).

Bob Dylan has made no mention, either on-stage or off, of the changes to his lineup. The Long Hot Summer Tour ’26 runs through August 1.

Dylan stuck to a similar setlist in Shakopee as he has at other stops of the tour. The show concluded with “I Shall Be Released,” which returned to rotation after 18 years back on June 9 in Eugene, Oregon.
