Watch Angine de Poitrine Make U.S. Debut At Newport Jazz Festival

Angine de Poitrine made their first concert appearance in the United States on Friday at the Newport Jazz Festival. The masked Quebec duo presented six songs across the 50 minute set at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.

The viral pair of supposed brothers — microtonal guitarist Khn de Poitrine and drummer Klek de Poitrine — performs in matching black-and-white polka-dot costumes, papier-mâché helmet masks and Pinocchio-style noses.

The duo’s rise to wider attention followed a live session posted by Seattle public radio station KEXP that has tallied more than 17 million views since February. A June 27 free performance in Montreal drew an estimated +70,000 people, the Montreal International Jazz Festival’s largest crowd since 2009.

Angine de Poitrine’s Newport Jazz Fest setlist pulled from both of the duo’s albums, “Sherpa” and “Tamebsz” off Vol.1, and “Fabienk,” “Mata Zyklek,” “Sarniezz,” and “Yor Zarad” from Vol.II.

Angine de Poitrine will perform two shows next week at Denver’s Ogden Theatre ahead of an appearance at King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's Field Of Vision festival in Buena Vista, Colorado.
