Angine de Poitrine continued their meteoric rise on Sunday with an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland. The anonymous Quebecois duo played “Fabienk” and “Sarniezz” from Vol. II for their British television debut.
The pair — microtonal guitarist Khn de Poitrine and drummer Klek de Poitrine — were joined on the episode by fellow musical guests Shania Twain, Sam Smith, Arlo Parks and Knats. Jools Holland pointed out Angine de Poitrine’s claim to be over 300 years old following their performance of “Sarniezz.”
Khn and Klek showed off their synchronized dance moves at the beginning of “Fabienk.” Shania Twain, who was promoting her upcoming album, Little Miss Twain, covered Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and performed her classic hit “You’re Still The One” accompanied by Holland on piano. Twain could be seen rocking out to Angine de Poitrine during the Montréal-based “microtonal cardboard duo’s” set. She also revealed “I’m so jealous of the hair” in reference to her fellow Canadians during a promo for the show.
