See Faye Webster Join Wilco For Stirring ‘Jesus Etc.’ In Athens

Wilco brought out Georgia native Faye Webster for a guest appearance last night in Athens. Webster dueted with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy on “Jesus, Etc.” towards the end of the band’s main set on Sunday at The Classic Center.

Faye Webster is no stranger to the song from Wilco’s groundbreaking 2002 album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. The singer-songwriter previously sang “Jesus, Etc.” with Wilco at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre on October 26, 2021. Webster opened for the Chicago-based band that night and at a handful of previous October 2021 shows in California.

Tweedy introduced Faye Webster and told the crowd he was excited and nervous that she was sitting in. “Jesus, Etc.” fell in the 15-slot during the band’s 23-song performance last night.

Wilco is currently touring in support of their 2022 album, Cruel Country. The sextet played five cuts from the LP in Athens including its title track, “I Am My Mother,” “Bird Without A Tail/Base Of My Skull,” “Story To Tell” and “Falling Apart (Right Now).” The latter kicked off the evening’s encore ahead of “California Stars,” “I Got You (At The End Of The Century)” and “Monday.”
