Yesterday marked 10 years since Widespread Panic concluded a two-night stand at the Classic Center in their hometown of Athens celebrating the group’s 25th anniversary. Panic honored the occasion by dropping pro-shot video featuring “Porch Song” and “Conrad The Caterpillar” from the February 11, 2011 concert.
Guitarists John Bell and Jimmy Herring, percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz, keyboardist JoJo Hermann, bassist Dave Schools and drummer Todd Nance opened their 25th Anniversary Run on February 10 and 11, 2011 before heading to Atlanta’s Fox Theater to wrap up the short tour on February 14, 2011. Widespread Panic loaded all three setlists with early classics.
Widespread Panic debuted “Porch Song” on March 17, 1986 and “Conrad The Caterpillar” on May 26, 1986 as per Everyday Companion. Both are among the most-played tunes in the WSP live repertoire.
The band closed out their second set with “Conrad” on February 11, 2011. “Porch Song” was the evening’s second of two encores and brought the show to an end.
