Watch Widespread Panic Perform ‘Pigeons’ At 25th Anniversary Run In 2011
Widespread Panic continues to roll out video from their 25th anniversary run in 2011. The latest is a clip of the classic “Pigeons” from the band’s February 10, 2011 concert at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.
The February 10 show kicked off the run which saw Panic performing two nights in Athens, the town where the band formed. The three-night 25th anniversary stand concluded with a play at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Valentine’s Day.
“Pigeons” is one of WSP’s oldest songs. According to Everyday Companion, the first iteration of the song — an instrumental version that carried the working titles “Puppet Song” and “A Hog’s Eternity” — came during a party at Garrie Vereen’s House in Athens on October 23, 1986, the same year the band formed. Over 940 plays later, the 25th anniversary version of the rowdy crowd favorite kicked off the second set.
