On July 3, 2001, The White Stripes released White Blood Cells the third studio album from Jack White and Meg White. The burgeoning Detroit-based rockers would soon rise to global critical and commercial acclaim, buoyed by the success of the new record. Ten days later the color-coordinated pair made their national television debut appearing on an episode of The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn that took place exactly 15 years ago today.
Jack and Meg were still being billed as brother and sister during Kilborn’s introduction that also declared they were a “duo whose bluesy rock and roll has made them the buzz of the alternative music world.” Rather than offer a cut from White Blood Cells, they instead performed “Screwdriver” from their self-titled 1999 debut LP.
