Warren Haynes Brings Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration To Bethel Woods
By Andy Kahn Aug 7, 2016 • 11:03 am PDT

Guitarist Warren Haynes once again led a Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration last night at Bethel Woods Center For The Arts in Bethel, New York. Haynes teamed with The Hudson Valley Philharmonic to deliver a night of music originating with the Grateful Dead and much of the show was captured on video and has been made available to view.
The ensemble was filled out by drummer Jeff Sipe, bassist Lincoln Schleifer and vocalist Jasmine Muhammad, as well as longtime Jerry Garcia Band vocalist Jaclyn LaBranch. Many of the songs played during last night’s concert were documented by vidographer Sean Roche and posted to YouTube. The set of videos below includes Haynes and the collective of musicians performing “Bird Song,” “Crazy Fingers,” “China Cat Sunflower,” “Uncle John’s Band,” “Touch Of Grey,” “Drums/Space,” “Terrapin Station,” “Slipknot!” and the “Ripple” encore. Watch the highlights from last night:
Haynes will lead another Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tonight at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. On Monday, August 8, Haynes will host a Symphonic Celebration at Central Park in New York City, during which he’ll play Jerry Garica’s famed Doug Irwin custom Tiger guitar, just as he did on Garcia’s birthday last week at Red Rocks. Monday’s show will also feature keyboardist Marco Benevento and guitarist Eric Krasno as special guests for an extended encore without the orchestra.
