Watch Tyler Childers Go Jurassic Performing ‘Snipe Hunter’ Songs At Dinosaur World

Tyler Childers celebrated the release of his new album, Snipe Hunter, Wednesday with an intimate pop-up concert in front of approximately 500 fans at the Dinosaur World theme park in Cave City, Kentucky. Childers and his band, The Food Stamps, played 10 songs from the LP along with a pair of covers and two fan favorites.

Rick Rubin helmed the long-awaited follow-up to 2023’s Rustlin’ In The Rain, with addition production from Childers and Sylvan Esso's Nick Sanborn. The Dinosaur World gig was Childers & The Food Stamps’ second Snipe Hunter-heavy pop-up show following a performance on Monday, July 28 at Nashville’s Turkey and the Wolf Icehouse and the release of the album last Friday, July 25.

Tyler Childers took the stage dressed as actor Sam Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant character from the Jurassic Park film franchise. Early on, Childers encouraged the crowd to let out their favorite dinosaur sounds and many in the audience complied.

After debuting Snipe Hunter cuts “Bitin’ List,” “Watch Out,” “Down Under,” “Getting To The Bottom” and “Dirty Ought Trill” live in Nashville, Childers performed all five songs again at Dinosaur World. The home-state hero also premiered “Tirtha Yatra” in Cave City and played “Snipe Hunt,” “Oneida,” “Cuttin’ Teeth,” “Eatin’ Big Time” and “Nose On The Grindstone” from his new album.

Tyler Childers opened yesterday’s unusual show with a cover of Hank Williams’ “Old Country Church.” Additionally, the singer-songwriter fit his rendition of Kenny Rogers’ “Tulsa Turnaround” into the set. Childers punctuated the concert with a solo version of “Lady May,” a song he wrote about his wife, Senora May, for inclusion on his 2017 record, Purgatory.
