Trampled By Turtles Offer Rare ‘Cold Rain And Snow’ Cover In St. Paul
The traditional tune was sung by bassist Tim Saxhaug.

Duluth, Minnesota natives Trampled by Turtles made a visit to Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Thursday night for a co-headlining concert with The Avett Brothers. Trampled By Turtles treated the home state audience to a rarely played cover of “Cold Rain And Snow.”
TBT bassist Tim Saxhaug handled lead vocals on “Cold Rain And Snow.” The traditional song was a staple of the Grateful Dead’s repertoire, but according to Setlist.fm and the band’s live recordings collection on Archive.org, it had been nearly 20 years since Trampled By Turtles last played it in public.

Both of those sites point to one prior TBT performance of “Cold Rain And Snow” occurring on March 4, 2005, at a show in Duluth. Video of Trampled By Turtles taking up the rarely played cover was captured in the video shared below:
