The JamBase Podcast Episode 19: Amanda Shires & Twiddle’s Mihali
A new installment of The JamBase Podcast is now available to stream or download below or using your preferred podcast provider. Episode 19 starts with “The Rundown” of recent news stories. Then, singer-songwriter Amanda Shires shares “Tour Stories” from her time on the road. Finally, Mihali of Twiddle discusses “The Art Of The Setlist.”
Andy Kahn and Scott Bernstein serve as hosts for “The Rundown.” AK begins the segment with a beautiful tribute to the “Queen Of Soul” Aretha Franklin who succumbed to cancer on August 16. Scotty and Andy then dive into the shocking cancelation of Phish’s Curveball festival.
Episode 19 continues with Shires recalling several “Tour Stories” to host David Onigman in the lounge on her bus outside the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The Lubbock, Texas native tells us about an interesting use of a Big Gulp cup, a fight that nearly broke out over a burrito and a series of initiations tour mate Todd Snider put her through. Amanda also discusses her recently released album To The Sunset and more.
Scotty can then be heard discussing “The Art Of The Setlist” with Twiddle frontman Mihali earlier this summer at the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, California. Mihali handles setlist duties for the Vermont-based quartet and explains how he determines what Twiddle will play each night. The vocalist/guitarist elaborates on the decision to shelf classic song “Frankenfoote” for over a year before Twiddle busted it out during their Red Rocks headlining debut, how the fan-favorite “Gatsby The Great” best fits into setlists, covers the band plays and more.
