The Gaslight Anthem Pays Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne In Florida

The Gaslight Anthem came to Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday on their tour with Counting Crows. The New Jersey rockers’ opening set saw the band honoring the late Ozzy Osbourne with “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

News of Ozzy Osbourne’s passing came yesterday afternoon. Since then a deluge of tributes have poured in for the influential Black Sabbath frontman. Gaslight Anthem selected one of Ozzy’s best solo songs, “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” to pay tribute to the legendary rocker.

Appearing on Ozzy Osbourne’s 1991 album No More Tears, “Mama, I’m Coming Home” was a collaboration between metal royalty: Ozzy, guitarist Zakk Wylde and Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister. The latter co-wrote the lyrics with Osbourne.

On Tuesday just hours after the news of Ozzy’s passing, Gaslight Anthem wrapped their opening set with “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” Frontman Brian Fallon delivered a dynamic vocal performance on the power ballad while guitarist Alex Rosamilia, rocking an Ozzy shirt, channeled Wylde on the soaring solo.

Gaslight kicked off the concert with “Autumn,” off their most recent studio album, 2023’s History Books. The band also delivered older favorites such as “The ’59 Sound” and “45.” Additional covers included a nod to late Florida native Tom Petty with “Honey Bee” and a song from grunge godfathers Mother Love Bone, “Chloe Dancer.”
