The Disco Biscuits delivered their New Year’s Eve concert at The Philadelphia Fillmore on Friday. The quartet offered three sets containing classic material as well as newer songs along with the second installment of “History of The Disco Biscuits.”

Bisco — guitarist Jon Gutwillig, bassist Marc Brownstein, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Allen Aucoin — got things going with “Rivers” with Gutwillig reeling of the song’s circular riff over drummer Aucoin’s driving beat. The quartet then cycled through a number of phases including a four on the floor rave up. The band finished off last night’s Pink Floyd cover “Run Like Hell” to cap off the set opening section. The vintage “Munchkin Invasion” followed ahead of an inverted “Miracles” which found its way back into “Munchkin.” The Biscuits closed out the first frame with “Voices Insane.”

The Biscuits launched the second set with the classic “Spectacle” which segued into two relatively new tunes “Running Into The Night” and “Anthem,” both debuted in Fall 2019. The band then got some help from JRAD’s Tom Hamilton and RAQ’s Chris Michetti for “History of The Disco Biscuits Part 2″ which featured excerpts of tDB original “The Great Abyss” as well as the traditional and Grateful Dead covered “I Know You Rider.” The band delivered a similar trip down memory lane on NYE 2002. The rarity “Biscuits Are Coming Home” commenced the countdown ahead of the classic “Helicopters” which saw “Happy New Year” lyrics to close out the second set.

The Disco Biscuits opened up the third frame with the theme from Golden Girls “Thank You For Being A Friend,” in honor of legendary actor Betty White who sadly died yesterday. More vintage Bisco in “Spaga” followed ahead of “Strobelights & Martinis.” From there band segued through a pair of classic’s “I-Man” and “Morph Dusseldorf,” with the latter featuring more “History of tDB” references to bring the New Year’s Eve concert to a close.
