Tedeschi Trucks Band continued their residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Saturday night. As they did the night previous with debuts of Neil Young’s “Helpless” and the Cream popularized, Blind Joe Reynolds song “Outside Woman Blues,” TTB unveiled covers from The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and more.

Guitarist Derek Trucks and vocalist/guitarist Susan Tedeschi got things going by leading TTB through a pair of songs off their 2013 album Made Up Mind “All That I Need” and “Misunderstood.” “When Will I Begin” off 2016’s Signs and “Come See About Me” from their Grammy-winning 2011 debut album Revelator followed.

TTB then unveiled The Rolling Stones’ “Dear Doctor,” originally appearing on the legendary rockers’ landmark 1968 album Beggar’s Banquet. Susan led backing vocalists Mike Mattison — who also played acoustic guitar — Mark Rivers and Alecia Chakour through the number which included a slide solo from Trucks that began by mirroring the melody before slipping into higher registers. TTB continued the set with “Anyhow” followed by a debut of Taj Mahal’s “Everybody’s Got To Change Sometime.” “Looking For Answers” then prefaced set closer “Had To Cry Today,” a cover from Blind Faith.

TTB kicked off the second set with Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne.” While Derek and Susan played the Cohen classic during one of their Fireside Sessions livestreams, the Beacon “Suzanne” marked the first public performance which featured Tedeschi leading the group through the tune sans guitar. Next came Susan’s solo cut, “The Feeling Music Brings,” ahead of “I’m Gonna Be There” and the Derek And The Dominos classic “Keep On Growing.”

TTB then unveiled Jimi Hendrix’s “Angel.” Derek strummed out the shimmering intro before delivering some licks and a quick “Third Stone From The Sun” tease. Drummers Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell and Isaac Eady then dropped the band into the poignant Hendrix tune, with keyboardist Gabe Dixon handling lead vocals. The TTB classic “Midnight In Harlem” and the Johnny Moore recorded, B.B. King popularized, “How Blue Can You Get” followed. The staple pairing of “The Storm” and The Allman Brothers Band’s “Whipping Post” closed out the set. TTB would encore with a rendition of “Let’s Go Get Stoned.”
