Watch the teaser clip of Swift announcing The Life Of A Showgirl on the soon-to-be-shared episode of the New Heights podcast:
In May, Swift secured the master recordings of her first six albums from private equity firm Shamrock Capital. The agreement came after Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings bought Swift’s former label Big Machine Label Group in June 2019. The deal allowed Ithaca Holdings to acquire the master recordings for Swift’s first six albums, which were later sold to Shamrock Capital in late 2020.
Swift started releasing re-recorded versions of her Big Machine albums, beginning with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, followed by Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in 2023.
Swift’s announcement about obtaining her master recordings also confirmed she abandoned plans to issue a “Taylor’s Version” of her 2017 album, Reputation. A re-recorded “Taylor’s Version” of her 2006 self-titled debut album is “already completely re-recorded,” though a timeline for its release was not shared.
Swift’s record-setting The Eras Tour was a multi-year global excursion that came to an end in December 2024. According to Pollstar, the massively successful run was the “first-ever tour to gross more than $2 billion.”
