Spafford Welcomes Brock Butler & Geoff Moss In Los Angeles

Last weekend, Spafford keyboardist Red Johnson was among Perpetual Groove’s guests in Colorado. On Friday night, PGroove frontman Brock Butler returned the favor as part of Spafford’s performance at Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.

Butler wasn’t Spafford’s only guest in L.A. Geoff Moss, the brother of Spafford guitarist Brian Moss, came out to sing “Legend” with the Arizona jam quartet at the end of the first set. The band’s opening stanza was a six-song affair that also featured the geographically-appropriate “Hollywood.”

Spafford opened the evening’s second set with “Ain’t That Wrong” and then linked a cover of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Aeroplane” with “Leave The Light On.” Next up was a cover of Tears For Fears’ “Mad World.” Butler then emerged to add his signature guitar tone to Spafford’s own “Salamander Song” ahead of the “Beautiful Day” closer. For the encore, Spafford said farewell to the City Of Angels with “Postman.”
