Spafford brought their fall tour to Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver on Saturday. The dual venue show saw Cool Cool Cool performing at Cervantes Other Side, and the band’s Sammi Garett ducked over to sing Olivia Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now” with Spaff.

Spafford is guitarist Brian Moss, drummer Nick Tkachyk, keyboardist Cory Schechtman and touring bassist Shon Gordon (founding bassist Jordan Fairless recently said he has “no current plans to return to the stage”). The quartet kicked off the concert with a substantial “Ain’t That Wrong” before launching into a nearly 24-minute rendition of staple “The Postman.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to welcome Sammi Garett to the stage,” Moss said as the band delivered some walk-on music for the singer. Garett then led the group through a vibey rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Can’t Catch Me Now.” The pop star contributed the song to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes soundtrack.

Garrett added her smooth, soaring vocals to “Can’t Catch Me Now” alongside silky synth stylings from Schechtman. Watch Spafford and Sammi Garett cover Olivia Rodrigo in Denver below:

Spafford rounded out the first frame with a pairing of “Gotta Save Fred” and “America.” The quartet continued to pay tribute to pop stars to launch the second set by fitting Demi Lovato’s “Anyone” within Spaff original “Electric Taco Stand.”

A rendition of The Presidents of the United States of America favorite “Peaches” came next ahead of another 24-minute exploration, this time on “Dirtbath” to conclude set two. Spafford returned for a “digital version” of “Legend,” which featured Schechtman on saxophone. The band brought the concert to a close with “The Reprise.”
