Bassist Jordan Fairless Shares Spafford Status Update
“Internal divisions have left me with no current plans to return to the stage with the band.”

Spafford bassist Jordan Fairless announced he was taking a break from touring ahead of the band’s recent Fall Tour 2024. Fairless posted an update regarding his status with the group he co-founded 15 years ago, revealing he has “no current plans to return to the stage with the band.”
Fairless cited the serious car accident Spafford survived earlier this year as impacting his decision to place a pause on touring. Boston-based bassist Shon Gordon was tapped to fill-in for Fairless.

Spafford co-founding guitarist Brian Moss also took a break from touring this year in the wake of the car accident, with Mike Gantzer filling-in. Not long after rejoining the band, Moss was sidelined again and Spafford was forced to cancel shows due to his undisclosed serious illness.
When Fairless announced his touring break in August, he mentioned “sitting out the beginning of Fall Tour with Spafford.” The announcement mentioned Gordon would fill-in for the band in August, and has continued performing alongside Moss, drummer Nick Tkachyk and keyboardist Cory Schechtman through their most recent show, held last Sunday in Seattle.
Months after the initial announcement regarding Fairless, the bassist posted a video and text message to social media, updating fans on his status in the band. Fairless’ note cited “internal divisions” as the cause for his absence. Fairless named Moss as the source of the division.
“Internal divisions have left me with no current plans to return to the stage with the band,” Fairless revealed. “Brian and I started Spafford together almost 16 years ago and my hope is that we can resolve our differences and respect the legacy we built together. I know that is my intention and I would hope it would be Brian’s as well. While I have attempted to remain transparent throughout the difficult situation that was Summer Tour, I have not spoken to anyone from Spafford, besides our current band manager briefly, since our last band video call in July.”
Spafford will perform a three-show run through Colorado beginning Thursday, November 21. The band has additional tour dates scheduled in December and early 2025. Listen to Spafford official soundboard audio via nugs.net.
