“We’re confident that Mike will help us keep the jams coming while Brian is out.”

Spafford will begin their summer tour on Wednesday, June 12 in Rochester after cancelling four dates. The first week of the tour was scrapped as guitarist Brian Moss is dealing with the fallout of a vehicle crash in March and while Moss will take more time to recover, Aqueous guitarist Mike Gantzer will step in for the band’s June dates.

“Back in March, the band was in a severe car accident. As some of you may know, accidents of that intensity can take time to truly process mentally and physically,” noted Spafford on social media. “Recently, Brian shared with us that he is not fully healed yet from the incident and going on tour right now feels like a bit too much. He needs some time to work through everything and we fully support his decision to take the time he needs to heal and return to us stronger.”

Spafford reached out to Gantzer to fill in for the 10 remaining shows they have planned this month. The decision was supported by Moss, who has forged a close friendship with Mike Gantzer over the years. “It was a natural choice to have him join us during this period and we warmly welcome him to the stage,” Spafford added. Aqueous has been on hiatus since their Great Flamingle II Festival last August.

“We’re confident that Mike will help us keep the jams coming while Brian is out, and we have full faith that the community we’ve built over the last 15 years will have our backs during this temporary shift,” the band’s statement continued. “We also look forward to welcoming Brian back as soon as he is ready to rock again.”
