Spafford brought their 2025 Spring Tour to a close on Saturday at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The quartet unveiled a new original, “High Beams,” toward the end of the first set.
The band — guitarist Brian Moss, drummer Nick Tkachyk, keyboardist Cory Schechtman and bassist Shon Gordon — kicked off the concert by linking up “Settled In,” “Neutrino” and a 21-minute “The Postman.” The quartet then premiered “High Beams.”

The song is a cheeky take on something everyone who spends a lot of time on the road is familiar with, toggling the high beams on a dark stretch of highway when another car passes. Carrying the refrain “Did you see me turn mine off,” the song is a funk-inflected groove laced with jazzy piano and slap bass. Following “High Beams,” Spafford wrapped the first frame with their cover of Demi Lovato’s “Anyone.”
The cover-heavy second set began with the Dire Straits favorite “Money For Nothing,” which saw the band jamming their way into Miles Davis’ “Impressions.” Next, Spafford took their staple “Electric Taco Stand” for another expansive exploration.
Spafford then cooled things off with their take on Arizona singer-songwriter and friend of the band Gary Ukura’s “Sweet,” which Spafford recently delivered acoustically for Sugarshack Sessions. The second set came to a close with the quartet weaving in and out of original “Weasel” and Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell.” Spafford returned to encore with the original version of “Walls.”
