Spafford Solves ‘Simple Mysteries’ With Surprise New Album & Announces January 2023 Tour Dates

Spafford released a surprise album, Simple Mysteries, at midnight last night. The band also detailed batch of winter tour dates set for January 2023.

The eight-track Simple Mysteries marks Spafford’s fourth studio release and first studio effort since 2019’s the Gaff Tapes EP. The band has unveiled a number of the songs live on their 2022 fall tour. Bassist Jordan Fairless engineered the album at Spafford’s “The Pound” studio. The band then sent the recordings to Emmy-winning mixer Matt Rifino and on to Grammy-winner Dave McNair for mastering. Spafford shared some more details on the new album.

We are beyond excited to share our latest album, Simple Mysteries, with the world. The album was recorded in phases throughout the course of the pandemic in our studio “The Pound”, where we selected some new ideas to bring to life and also gave some long-deserved studio treatment to songs we had already been playing live for some time. The result is a beautiful musical journey, hand crafted to perfection, ripe for the listening.

Spafford also mapped out tour dates for early 2023. The winter tour kicks off with a two-night run in Crested Butte, Colorado on January 6 and 7. The quartet then jumps over to North Carolina for concerts in Charlotte (January 11) and Asheville (January 12).

Next, Spaff hits Nashville (January 13) and Atlanta (January 14) ahead of a two-night stand in Charleston, South Carolina January 15 and 16. The band returns to North Carolina for an engagement in Raleigh on January 18.

Following a concert in Charlottesville, Virginia on January 19, Spafford treks up to New York City for a show at Brooklyn Bowl on January 20. The run wraps up in Washington D.C. on January 21.
