Ryan Adams will be holding recording sessions in New York City next month. The prolific singer-songwriter wants members of his former backing band The Cardinals to join him at Electric Lady Studios.

Adams put out the call for the reunion through a post on Instagram, specifically seeking The Cardinals members Cat Popper, Jon Graboff, Neal Casal, Brad Pemberton and J.P. Bowersock to “drop me a line if you think you’ll be around.” The note mentioned Adams was planning to record songs in memory of his brother Chris who passed away last year.

“He loved that music so much,” wrote Adams. “Would love to see you.”

Adams released the 2005 albums Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights that featured The Cardinals. Members of the band also appeared on the 2009 LP Easy Tiger. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals also issued the 2011 studio album Cardinology and the 2010 album III/IV which was recorded in 2006.

Adams addressed the death of his brother Chris during the encore of his recent performance at Red Rocks. He also dedicated a solo acoustic performance of “Jacksonville Skyline” to his late sibling.

“My brother Chris died on the last day of the Prisoner Tour and I haven’t been able to play, I don’t know how to do it anymore,” Adams told the crowd outside Denver. “It’s really hard for me, and I have panic attacks on stage and it’s just all fucked up and tonight meant so much to me because you guys were so kind.”
