The Rolling Stones played the penultimate show of their 2024 Hackney Diamonds Tour last night at Levi’s Stadium. The iconic rockers fit the tour’s first performance of Some Girls gem “Far Away Eyes” into the setlist on Wednesday for their concert in Santa Clara, California.
“Far Away Eyes” was selected by fans in pre-show voting. The cut from the band’s landmark 1978 album was played in the five-slot and won out over “Dead Flowers,” “Let It Bleed” and “Sweet Virginia.”

“Oh god, how does that go?” frontman Mick Jagger quipped after revealing the winner of the fan vote. The country-tinged “Far Away Eyes” — complete with its reference to Bakersfield, California — had been shelved since October 29, 2021. Last night was just the fourth performance of the past 17 years.
Mick Jagger strummed guitar while singing “Far Away Eyes.” Ronnie Wood employed a pedal steel guitar and tones of an accordion were also worked into the mix.

The Rolling Stones’ second 2024 cover of the Bob Dylan classic “Like A Rolling Stone” followed “Far Away Eyes.” The legendary band had one more surprise in store next as they offered the official live debut of “Bite My Head Off.”
“Bite My Head Off” is among the 12 songs featured on the group’s 2023 album, Hackney Diamonds. While Mick Jagger told the crowd “we’ve never done this one before,” The Stones actually played “Bite My Head Off” during their private club show in New York City on the eve of the LP’s release.

The Rolling Stones stuck to Hackney Diamonds material for the ensuing “Mess It Up.” From there, the pioneering ensemble played oldie “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” before guitarist Keith Richards stepped into the spotlight for “You Got The Silver,” “Little T&A” and “Before They Make Me Run.”
“Symphathy For The Devil” then kicked off a run of staples to end the set. The Rolling Stones said farewell with their typical encore of “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven” and “(I Can’t Get No)” Satisfaction.” On Sunday, the tour concludes in Ridgedale, Missouri.
