The Rolling Stones Deliver Tour Debut Of ‘Beggar’s Banquet’ Classic In Vancouver

The Rolling Stones kicked off the last West Coast portion of their North American Hackney Diamonds Tour in Vancouver on Friday. The legendary rockers rolled out a Beggars Banquet favorite as the fan-voted song at BC Place Stadium.

Released in late 1968, Beggars Banquet is one of The Stones best albums with “Street Fighting Man” a standout on the record. The fan-voted song beat out “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker),” “All Down the Line” and “Out of Control.” When the options were put up on the screen in Vancouver, Mick Jagger quipped that he didn’t remember Bridges to Babylon cut “Out of Control.”

Mick led the band through “Street Fighting Man,” which boasted Keith Richards’ excellent guitar work and longtime touring keyboardist Chuck Leavell serving up the song’s piano outro. Watch the “Street Fighting Man” tour debut below:

The Stones also offered four tracks off their new album Hackney Diamonds including “Angry” and “Mess It Up.” Richards’ section saw the guitarist leading Hackney Diamonds’ “Tell Me Straight” and included the recent tour debut of “Before They Make Me Run” followed by a bevy of classics such as Beggars’ “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Honkey Tonk Women,” “Midnight Rambler,” “Gimme Shelter” and set closer “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”

As per the tour setlist, the encore consisted of Hackney Diamonds’ “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” and “Satisfaction.” Next up for The Stones as they near the end of the tour is a two-show stand at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Scroll down for their remaining itinerary with ticket info.
