The Rolling Stones concluded a two-show stand at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday. The concert saw the live premiere of the Keith Richards-led “Tell Me Straight” off the band’s latest studio album, Hackney Diamonds.

Hackney Diamonds arrived on October 20, 2023. It marked the band’s first studio album of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang. It was also the first such record after the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, although Charlie appears posthumously on the album.

The Stones opened the North American leg of the Hackney Diamonds Tour in Houston where they unveiled the album’s “Mess It Up” (one of the songs featuring Watts’ drumming). The band continued to debut Hackney Diamonds cuts in the NYC area on Sunday with “Tell Me Straight.”

“I’m gonna try a new one tonight,” Keith Richards told MetLife Stadium ahead of the song. “Off of Hackney Diamonds called ‘Tell Me Straight.’” With Mick Jagger taking a breather, guitarists Keith Richard and Ronnie Wood presided over the Hackney deep cut. The Stones had a few more changes to the setlist in store for MetLife, beginning with the tour debut of Sticky Fingers (1971) classic “Bitch,” which came after opener “Start Me Up” and oldie “Get Off Of My Cloud.”

The fan voted song for the evening was Goats Head Soup (1973) rocker “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker),” another tour debut. Mick also threw in a snippet of Robert Johnson’s “Come In My Kitchen” within the first “Midnight Rambler” of 2024. The show came to a close with Hackney Diamonds standout “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
