Destiny’s Child vocalist Michelle Williams sure had a busy night on Thursday. Not only did she, as reported, team with Booker T. & The MGs for “A Change Is Gonna Come” at The Apollo Theater in Harlem at a tribute to Otis Redding, but she also collaborated with another act in Brooklyn. Williams sat-in with Robert Randolph & The Family Band at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday.
The Sacred Steel specialist and his family band played Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday to celebrate Randolph’s fifth Grammy nomination. Robert Randolph is one of the nominees in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category for 2017’s Got Soul. It has been a while since Robert has been up for a Grammy, as his fourth nomination came way back in 2009. Late in the show, Robert invited out Glen Peterson, Jr. lead guitarist from the opening band, The Peterson Brothers. Next up, dear friend Michelle Williams, best known for her work with Destiny’s Child, joined on vocals for a couple of songs including “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Photographer Jeremy Gordon was on hand to capture the action.
