The Revivalists Welcome Daniel Donato For Tom Petty Cover At 4848 Festival

Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country and The Revivalists closed out the action on the Sky Stage at 4848 Festival on Friday with back-to-back performances. The Revivalists called upon Donato to join them for a rousing rendition of the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers classic “American Girl” towards the end of the night.

The 4848 Festival takes its name from the height of the second-highest point in West Virginia, which is located within host site Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Over 20 acts performed across three stages at the event’s seventh edition between Thursday, July 16 and Saturday, July 18.

Daniel Donato and Cosmic Country bandmates Nathan “Sugar Leg” Aronowitz, Will “Bronco” Clark and Will “Mustang” McGee threw down a 105-minute performance highlighted by well-jammed versions of “Valhalla” and “Dance In The Desert.” The set featured material from across Donato’s three latest albums, with covers of the traditional “Hangman’s Reel” and “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” thrown in for good measure.

The Revivalists then took the Sky Stage with a career-spanning set of their own. Fans were treated to multiple samples of Get It Honest, the New Orleans-based band’s first new full-length studio album in three years, which arrives this Friday, July 24 via Concord Records.

Daniel Donato came out with his Telecaster guitar in hand towards the end of the set. Donato and The Revivalists guitarist Zack Feinberg traded licks on “American Girl” ala Tom Petty and Mike Campbell. Frontman David Shaw belted out the song from 1976’s Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers that became a staple of classic rock radio.

The Revivalists went on to conclude their performance with fan-favorite “Wish I Knew You.” Fireworks filled the sky at Snowshoe Mountain Resort as the band worked through their signature song.
