The Revivalists confirmed details of Get It Honest, their first new full-length studio album in three years. The New Orleans-based band also unveiled “Heart Stop,” the lead single and opening track from an LP due out on Friday, July 24 via Concord Records.

Producer Rich Costey (Vampire Weekend, Foo Fighters) gathered with The Revivalists at Guilford Sound in Vermont to work on what turned out to be a 12-track record. The studio was the same idyllic location where Costey and the octet previously collaborated on 2023’s Pour It Out Into The Night.

After dipping their toes into various soundscapes on their previous album, Get It Honest is said in press materials to envince “a blessed cohesion, as if The Revivalists have finally found how they truly want to sound, at least for right now.” The Revivalists drew upon their life experience to craft emotionally resonant songs for their sixth studio album. Core themes include fatherhood-driven maturity (seven of eight members are now dads), looking forward and restraint as artistic growth.

The band isn’t letting the past define their future. “To me, this album is about understanding this point and learning to work with it like a potter works the clay,” explained The Revivalists frontman David Shaw. “Our flaws and imperfections are what ultimately make us human and beautiful.”

The powerful love song “Heart Stop” gives fans the first sample of the eagerly anticipated album. David Shaw belts his heart out as electric and acoustic guitars swirl over a commanding beat. “Heart Stop” builds into a blistering crescendo, colored by tinges of pedal steel.

“This song might hit a little different for everyone, and I love that,” added Shaw. “But for me, I’d say sometimes you are caught between two loves. One that’s tearing you apart and one that you know is right. This song is the sleepless nights, the wreckage, and the moment you finally surrender to what you know is there for you.”

The Revivalists enlisted filmmaker Caroline Iaffaldano to direct their “Heart Stop” video. The striking visual was fully shot on a first-person-view helmet camvinside a New Orleans shotgun house. Watch the video, which features talented dancer Malerie Dempster, below:

This summer, The Revivalists will mix headlining gigs, festival appearances and slots opening for The Red Clay Strays. Fall plans include the inaugural sailing of The Revivalists' Otherside Of Paradise At Sea concert cruise.
