Watch Reba McEntire Recruit Post Malone For Impromptu Dickey Betts Tribute At ACM Awards

Post Malone made his Academy of Country Music Awards debut last night at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas where he offered a two-song performance. ACM Host Reba McEntire then enlisted Posty for a surprise tribute to late The Allman Brothers Band co-founding guitarist Dickey Betts.

The 28-year-old musician had just delivered his brand new song “Never Love You Again” and a solo take on his “I Had Some Help” collaboration with Morgan Wallen when McEntire pulled him aside. “We recently lost Dickey Betts from The Allman Brothers Band and if you would, let’s sing a little bit of ‘Ramblin’ Man,'” Reba exclaimed. “I don’t see why not,” Post Malone responded.

Reba McEntire asked Posty to play a G chord on his guitar and began singing the ABB’s 1973 hit penned by Dickey Betts. The pair went a capella for their brief but memorable version of “Ramblin’ Man.” Post Malone ended the segment by sending his love to his mother.

Dickey Betts sadly died on April 18 at age 80 after years of health issues. Tributes have come pouring in from all sides of the musical world in Betts’ honor including country musicians. Post Malone has embraced the genre and recently played a guest-filled set of country covers at the Stagecoach festival.
