The Wallflowers‘ spring tour rolled into Orlando on Tuesday. The band led by Jakob Dylan honored co-founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts with an ABB classic he wrote mashed-up with a Wallflowers original toward the end of their main set at The Plaza Theatre.

“Here’s a song we do not play too much,” Dylan said as The Wallflowers jumped into the opening track, “Shy of the Moon,” from their 1992 self-titled debut album. Following band introductions, Jakob noted.

“[Florida] has a long history of fantastic musicians… you guys lost somebody fantastic recently. I don’t think I have to say his name too loud, Dickey Betts.” Betts sadly died on April 18.

The Wallflowers then reeled off the iconic opening guitarmonies of “Ramblin’ Man.” Jakob led the group through the classic, appearing on ABB’s 1973 album Brothers and Sisters. Watch The Wallflowers perform “Shy of the Moon” and “Ramblin’ Man” below:

Next, The Wallflowers delivered their 1996 hit, “One Headlight,” before wrapping the set with “Who’s That Man Walking ‘Round My Garden” off latest studio album, 2021’s Exit Wounds. The band leaned heavily on their first studio album since 2012’s Glad All Over, also performing “Move the River,” “I Hear the Ocean (When I Wanna Hear Trains)” and more.

The Wallflowers’ cover-filled encore in Orlando kicked off with Cat Stevens’ “Wild World.” The band then honored another late Florida legend with two Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers songs, “Refugee” and “The Waiting.” The concert came to a close with “The Difference” off Wallflowers’ landmark 1996 album, Bringing Down The Horse.

Wallflowers’ spring tour continues in Ponte Verde, Florida tonight. Check out the band’s itinerary with ticket info below.
