Pro-Shot Video: The Disco Biscuits Begin 2017 New Year’s Run In New York City

Jamtronica pioneers The Disco Biscuits kicked off a four-night New Year’s Run at PlayStation Theater in New York City on Thursday night. The band showed little rust in coming up with an inventive way to begin their annual year-end celebration.

The quartet opened with “7-11” and then worked the music into the middle of “Mindless Dribble,” namely the section featuring the lyric “Apple Butter Toast.” From there, tDB transitioned back into “7-11” for the portion including the lyric “Wearing A Towel.” After a return to “Mindless Dribble,” the foursome moved into the middle and ending of “Astronaut.” The fun sequence was followed by just the second “Sister Judy’s Soul Shack” since 2015 and the first during a New Year’s Run since 2012. A pairing of old school favorites “Reactor” and “Spectacle” brought the frame to a close.

Apparently the guys weren’t finished with “Astronaut” as they began the second set with yet another portion of the song. The 10-year-old “Air Song” came next along with an inverted “Svenghali.” What followed was just the 25th known tDB cover of Tschaikovsky’s “Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairies.” Then, the quartet ended the set by finishing “Reactor.” For the encore, the Disco Biscuits said farewell with “World Is Spinning.” Late night on Friday, the Disco Biscuits return to the PlayStation stage.
