Seattle’s Polyrhythmics dropped “Got to Be for Something,” a soul-charged new single featuring vocalist Adryon de Leon. The track marks de León’s official introduction as a featured collaborator with the instrumental funk six-piece and previews a full-length album due in early 2027.
The six-piece ensemble has previously welcomed de León for select shows over the past few years. Adryon also contributed to Polyrhythmics’ 2025 single “Smoke & Mirrors.” The Orgōne/Matador! Soul Sounds vocalist will reunite with Polyrhythmics on tour beginning this weekend.
“Got To Be For Something” finds Polyrhythmics stretching into richer, gospel-leaning territory, anchored by Adryon de León’s fiery and expressive vocal performance. de León channeled the lesser-known corners of Aretha Franklin’s catalg for the emotionally resonant release, particularly the Queen Of Soul’s You, Sparkle and self-titled 1980 albums.
“The tune serves as a reminder that some of the best moments in life have not yet been realized, but they’re not simply handed to you. The investment in yourself is worth the return and in turn, the world deserves to see your light,” de León stated of the meaning behind the track.
