Pink Talking Fish & Kung Fu Perform Prince & David Bowie Tribute At Catskill Chill

Among the pre-planned collaborative performances held at this year’s Catskill Chill Music Festival was Friday’s Pink Talking Fish and Kung Fu set. The two acts teamed up to honor two legendary musicians who have passed away this year: Prince and David Bowie.

Pink Talking Fish members bassist Eric Gould, keyboardist Richard James, drummer Zack Burwick and guitarist Dave Brunyak joined forces with Kung Fu guitarist Tim Palmieri, drummer Adrian Tramontano, bassist Chris Deangelis, saxophonist Rob Somerville and keyboardist Beau Sasser for the tribute performance. The Pink Talking Fu set saw the two bands deliver a setlist intertwining selections of hits originally performed by The Purple One and The Thin White Duke.

Prince’s “Musicology” kicked things off with Bowie’s “Fame” following. The back-and-forth action continued with “1999” coming ahead of “Golden Years” which segued into “Take Me With You.” Bowie’s collab with Queen, “Under Pressure,” came next with Hayley Jane adding guest vocals. The ensemble then offered a pairing of “Let’s Go Crazy” and “Let’s Dance.” Shira Elias came out to help sing Prince’s “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and after a take on “Space Oddity” she and Jane returned to help out on the set closing “Purple Rain” > “Memory Of A Free Festival.”
