Pigeons Playing Ping Pong hit The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Saturday. The group welcomed frequent collaborator/opener Tomo Fujita to collaborate on a total of four PPPP songs at the sold-out concert.

Fujita — who is a guitar professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston — first joined Pigeons to help them close their first set at The Cap. The collab kicked off with PPPP’s “Indiglo.” After frontman/guitarist Greg Ormont led the band through lyrics, Tomo delivered a jazz-tinged solo on the tune. Fujita and PPPP guitarist Jeremy Schon also shared some shred on the tune debuted in 2017 and appearing on Pigeons 2022 album Perspective.

The five musicians then headed into oldie “F.U.” Tomo delivered an extended solo on the tune which he whipped to a boil. Watch Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Tomo Fujita on “Indiglo” and “F.U.” via fan-shot video below:

PPPP launched the concert with “Melting Lights” ahead of “Whirled.” The title track to their newly announced studio album, Day In Time, came next. The quartet then debuted a new original, “Feet On The Ground,” before closing out the set with “Avalanche” in which they fit the John Williams’ Harry Potter franchise composition “Hedwig’s Theme.”

Standalone renditions on “Mine” and “Horizon” got set two underway before Fujita returned for a pairing of “Overtime” and “Zydeko.” The quartet then went it alone for a cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which contained teases of Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4.”

The Beatles cover kicked off a seamless set-closing sequence that also included “Couldn’t We All” and “The Liquid.” PPPP returned to encore with “Ocean Flows.”

Next up for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong is a concert in Savannah, Georgia on February 14 to start a run through the Southeast. Check out their itinerary and ticket info below:
