Pigeons Playing Ping Pong confirmed a new album, Day In Time, arriving on April 26 via No Coincidence Records. The funk quartet previewed the new record with the title track.
The band’s seventh studio album, Day In Time follows PPPP’s 2022 LP Perspective. The quartet — guitarist/lead vocalist Greg Ormont, guitarist Jeremy Schon, bassist Ben Carrey and drummer Alex Petropulos — previously released the Day In Time track “Alright Tonight,” which arrived last fall.
“What is an album if not a ‘day in time’?” Greg Ormont mused on the new LP. “This record is a snapshot of our band at this exact moment. It’s a reminder that life moves fast, so we better make each second count.”
“This album represents our most cohesive collection of songs to date,” Jeremy Schon added. “All of the tracks on Day In Time truly represent our current writing style and where we are as a band today.”
As for the title track, PPPP debuted the song live at their 2021 Domefest event and have played it upwards of 25 times, as per Phantasy Tour. The dynamic studio version carries over the live feel with special guest Ben “Smiley” Silverstein (The Main Squeeze) adding intergalactic synth.
