Pigeons Playing Ping Pong brought their 2022 winter tour to San Diego’s The Observatory North Park on Thursday, March 10. Today, PPPP shared pro-shot video of their debut “Hella Good” cover from Southern California’s own No Doubt featuring the evening’s opening act, Karina Rykman.
Pigeons filled the first part of their set with a mix of older material — opener “Landing” and “Porcupine” — as well as new tunes from their upcoming album Perspective including the single, “Elephante.” PPPP also fit a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” within “Porcupine.”
Karina Rykman emerged — stepping in for Pigeons bassist Ben Carrey — following “Fortress” to play bass and sing on a PPPP debut of the No Doubt dance number “Hella Good.” The track appears on Gwen Stefani and the company’s 2001 album, Rock Steady. Karina led the band through the tune before Jeremy Schon added some guitar fireworks on the ensuing jam.
