Beginning last year, in celebration of the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary Phil Lesh began performing a series of Phil Lesh & Friends shows at his Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California for each of the years the iconic group performed. Terrapin Crossroads has announced the lineup, date and details of another Phil & Friends tribute to 1977 Grateful Dead.
Also part of the four year anniversary Terrapin Crossroads celebration, the newly confirmed 1977 Grateful Dead tribute concert will be held in the Grate Room this Thursday, March 10. With Phil on bass, the rest of the lineup will feature guitarists Grahame Lesh and Stu Allen, keyboardist Scott Guberman and drummers John Molo and Ezra Lipp. This marks the fourth Phil & Friends concert to feature the re-creation of a Dead show from 1977, as the ensemble featuring John Mayer performed the famed May 8, 1977 concert at Cornell University as well as June 9, 1977 at Winterland last June, and a different lineup played a fan-voted rendition of the May 19, 1977 show from Atlanta’s Fox Theater in September 2015.
The 1977 Grateful Dead “encore presentation” is one of several Phil Lesh & Friends shows taking place at Terrapin Crossroads this week. A different lineup joins the veteran bassist each night beginning this evening with Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Scott Law, Jason Crosby and John Molo and continuing through the 1977 show Thursday. Head to Terrapin Crossroads for more information.
