Pearl Jam canceled their concert tonight (Sunday, July 24) in Amsterdam due to frontman Eddie Vedder’s damaged vocal cords. The band was supposed to start a two-show run at Ziggo Dome, where they are still scheduled to perform tomorrow.
Pearl Jam recently canceled concerts in Vienna, Austria and Prague, Czech Republic. The cancelations came shortly after performing outdoors at Lollapalooza Paris. The band’s initial message noted “extreme circumstances … heat, dust, and smoke” from nearby wildfires caused by a historic heatwave led to Vedder’s damaged vocal cords. Vedder has undergone treatment but still is without his voice.
According to today’s cancelation message posted by Pearl Jam, “All of [their] energies will now be focused on having a show tomorrow” (Monday, July 25) in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome. Monday’s show is the final date on Pearl Jam’s current European tour.
