Noah Kahan Sticks Landing With James Bay At Madison Square Garden Debut Concert

James Bay gave Noah Kahan one of the biggest breaks of his career five years ago when the British musician enlisted the Vermont-based singer-songwriter to open his Electric Light Tour. Kahan had Bay back by his side last night to perform “Stick Season” to close Noah’s first-ever headline concert at Madison Square Garden.

James Bay’s guest appearance came after he kicked off the show with a support set. Bay will also open for Noah Kahan tonight at MSG and on Thursday and Friday nights at Fenway Park in Boston. Mt. Joy also joins Noah Kahan and James Bay on the bill at Fenway. All four concerts sold out shortly after tickets went on sale.

While Kahan made his headlining debut at The Garden on Monday, it wasn’t his first time performing at the venue. Olivia Rodrigo brought out Noah Kahan for a “Stick Season” duet at MSG this past April.

Noah Kahan, who will release the collaborative single “Up All Night” featuring James Bay and The Lumineers on Friday, focused heavily on material from his Stick Season album last night. The 27-year-old musician played 15 songs either featured on his breakthrough 2022 LP or the expanded Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever) edition starting with the “Dial Drunk” opener.

Kahan utilized a more intimate B Stage towards the end of his main set for performances of Stick Season’s “Growing Sideways” and the unreleased “Way Up High.” The singer-songwriter wrapped the frame back on the main stage and then returned to play a two-song encore. Stick Season closer “The View Between Villages” was followed by the beloved title track to punctuate Noah Kahan’s big night.

James Bay emerged to add additional guitar and vocals to the “Stick Season” finale. The last song of the night turned into one big singalong as the capacity crowd belted out the lyrics along with Kahan.
