Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts Debut Anti-Trump Protest Song ‘Big Crime’ In Chicago

Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts premiered a new song entitled “Big Crime” last night during their concert at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago. Young’s fiery lyrics take aim at President Donald Trump and his administration’s takeover of law enforcement functions in Washington D.C.

The Canadian-born rocker has a long history of political activism, writing such protest songs as “Ohio,” “Alabama,” “Mideast Vacation” and the recently revived “Long Walk Home.” Young, who holds dual citizenship with the United States, has frequently criticized the Trump administration.

“There’s big crime in DC at The White House,” Neil Young sang as the chorus to his latest song. “Big Crime” also includes the scathing lyrics “Don’t need no fascist rules/Don’t want no fascist schools/Don’t want soldiers on our streets” and “No more money to the fascists/The billionaire fascists/Time to blackout the system/No more great again.”

Neil Young and bandmates guitarist Micah Nelson, organist Spooner Oldham, drummer Anthony LoGerfo and bassist Corey McCormick rolled out “Big Time” as the 13th song of their 17-song performance in Chicago. Young released a recording of “Big Crime” captured at soundcheck before the show and posted the lyrics to the song on his Neil Young Archives website.

Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts’ Love Earth Tour 2025 resumes on Friday, August 29 in Milwaukee. The trek ends on September 15 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl before the band performs at Farm Aid.
