British rock band The Heavy Heavy opened for Chicago-based keyboardist/singer-songwriter Neal Francis at a sold-out Tipitina’s in New Orleans during the second weekend of Jazz Fest. Both acts joined forces to close the night with a rollicking rendition of The Rolling Stones‘ “Honky Tonk Women.” Professionally-shot video of the collaboration has been shared on Francis’ YouTube channel and can be viewed below.
Neal Francis’ band features guitarist Kellen Boersma, drummer Collin O’Brien and bassist Mike Starr. The Heavy Heavy consists of vocalist Georgie Fuller, bassist Tom Holder, guitarists Will Turner and Frank Fogden and drummer Joe Bordenaro. The show took place on Saturday, May 4 at the famed NOLA venue.

The Rolling Stones, who performed at Jazz Fest two days prior to the Neal Francis/The Heavy Heavy concert, originally released “Honky Tonk Women” as a single in 1969. Neal Francis and Georgie Fuller shared lead vocal duties on the cover at Tipitina’s. Boersma hopped on piano, while Bordenaro banged on cowbell, Holder and Starr held down the bottom end, Fogden and Turner shredded guitar and O’Brien played drums.
