Watch My Morning Jacket’s ‘Return To Thunderdome’ Documentary Chronicling Monumental Bonnaroo 2004 Set

My Morning Jacket‘s instant classic and rain-soaked Bonnaroo 2004 set is the subject of Return To Thunderdome, a new documentary film. The feature premiered last night on MMJ’s YouTube channel and is available for on-demand viewing until 9 p.m. ET tonight, Wednesday, May 24.

The Louisville-based band took the Which Stage at third installment of Bonnaroo on June 12, 2004. While the weather was nice when the group began the set, the skies opened up during the 12-song performance leading to an epic rainstorm. My Morning Jacket rose to the occasion and delivered a monumental set that stands among the best in their history.

Guitarist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster had joined My Morning Jacket at the beginning of 2004. Broemel, Koster, frontman/guitarist Jim James, drummer Patrick Hallahan and bassist Tom Blankenship showed the chemistry they quickly developed in wowing the crowd in Manchester, Tennessee with potent versions of such songs as “One Big Holiday,” “Dancefloors,” “Cobra” and “Steam Engine.”

Produced by Koster and directed by Michael Feld and Grant James, Return To Thunderdome features both on-stage and behind-the-scenes footage captured at Bonnaroo 2004. The documentary includes interviews with band members, the production staff and fans who witnessed the otherworldly set.

Official audio of the entire set will be released as the live album, MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome), on vinyl and digitally via ATO Records on Friday, June 9.
