The Crowd Rolls In: Watch My Morning Jacket Perform ‘Golden’ At Bonnaroo 2004

My Morning Jacket’s monumental performance at the 2004 Bonnaroo festival will soon be released as the live album, MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome). The band previewed the latest installment in their MMJ Live archival series with footage of “Golden” from their set at Bonnaroo.

MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome) was recorded on June 12, 2004. Frontman Jim James and his bandmates played the Which Stage at what was the third edition of the festival held annually in Manchester, Tennessee.

“It seems like only yesterday we were playing in the hot n’ sweaty rain-soaked Thunderdome down at the ol’ Roo … but WOW it’s been nearly 20 years!” said James. “We are so excited to revisit and share this pivotal moment for the band and beautiful moment in time with the universe with you all again!”

Braving heavy rains and thunderstorms, MMJ powered through a 12-song set featuring favorites such as “It Beats For You,” “Dancefloors,” “Steam Engine” and the previously shared “One Big Holiday.” ATO Records will issue MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome) on vinyl and digitally on Friday, June 9.

“Golden” appeared on MMJ’s 2003 album, It Still Moves. The band recently announced their 2023 Fall Tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album’s release.
