My Morning Jacket devotes the next installment of their MMJ Live archival series to their epic performance at the 2004 Bonnaroo festival. MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome) is due out on vinyl and digitally via ATO Records on Friday, June 9 and has been previewed with audio of “One Big Holiday” from the 12-song set.
Jim James and his bandmates took the Which Stage at the third installment of the festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 12, 2004 as dark clouds approached. My Morning Jacket reeled off one incredible song after another while dealing with a driving rainstorm. The set included such favorites as “Golden,” “It Beats For You,” “Dancefloors” and “Steam Engine.”
“It seems like only yesterday we were playing in the hot n sweaty rain-soaked Thunderdome down at the ol roo…but WOW it’s been nearly 20 years!” exclaimed Jim James. “We are so excited to revisit and share this pivotal moment for the band and beautiful moment in time with the universe with you all again!”
MMJ Live Vol. 3: Bonnaroo 2004 (Return to Thunderdome) will be released as 2xLP 140g Coke bottle clear vinyl (with gatefold jacket and digital download card). Additionally, the set will be made available on digital streaming services. Members of MMJ’s One Big Family fan club can pre-order a limited edition digital deluxe version of the collection that includes high-quality audio files and first dibs on upcoming exclusive content.
