Beck and My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James were among a number of artists honoring The Beach Boys on Wednesday. Beck and James performed the classic “Good Vibrations” at the Grammy Salute To The Beach Boys Concert at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater.
“Good Vibrations” was released on October 10, 1966. The composition by Brian Wilson with lyrics by Mike Love came out of sessions for Pet Sounds, widely considered the legendary group’s best album and Wilson’s masterpiece.
Beck and James were tapped to perform “Good Vibrations” at The Beach Boys tribute. Elsewhere in the concert, Beck performed “Sloop John B” and James fronted MMJ on “I Get Around.” With the surviving Beach Boys looking on including Wilson, Beck and Jim James delivered a faithful rendition of “Good Vibrations” complex vocal arrangement.
