My Morning Jacket continued a three-city swing through Texas on Saturday with a show at The Pavillion at Toyota Music Factory near Dallas. Australian singer-songwriter Grace Cummings kicked off the evening with a support set and then made two guest appearances with the headliners.

Frontman Jim James led his bandmates through his solo cut “Here In Spirit” to begin My Morning Jacket’s 24-song performance in Irving, Texas. The quintet then raged “Mahgeetah” and “Aluminum Park” before performing “Half A Lifetime,” one of six tracks from the band’s recently released album is to make the setlist on Saturday.

Grace Cummings, who joined My Morning Jacket for a mashup in Austin two nights prior, came out following the subsequent “Evil Urges” to sing “Harvest Moon” with Jim James. The Neil Young cover returned to the band’s repertoire in 2024 for three performances after a decade on the shelf.

Cummings and James split the verses of the title track from Young’s 1992 album and harmonized on the choruses. Guitarist Carl Broemel played pedal steel on “Harvest Moon” with Jim James on acoustic guitar.

James, Broemel and bandmates drummer Patrick Hallahan, bassist Tom Blankenship and keyboardist Bo Koster rolled on sans guests with the tour debut of The Tennessee Fire gem “They Ran.” From there, MMJ followed “Out In The Open” and “Circuital” by plucking “Lucky To Be Alive” off their self-titled LP for its first performance of the tour.

Later in the night, Cummings reemerged for a mashup of is standout “River Road” and AC/DC’s “Ride On.” The latter, which AC/DC originally released on their 1976 album Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, was a live debut for My Morning Jacket. “River Road”/”Ride On” spanned over 11 minutes and saw James handle most lead vocals for “River Road” and Cummings belt out “Ride On” along with Jim.

My Morning Jacket went it alone for the tour debut of It Still Moves chestnut “Easy Morning Rebel” and then punctuated their main set with the beloved “One Big Holiday.” The evening’s final tour debut, “I Will Be There When You Die,” started a four-song encore that also included “Feel You,” “Spring (Among The Living)” and “Wordless Chorus.”
