Watch Mumford & Sons Cover ‘House Of The Rising Sun’ With Trombone Shorty & Celisse

Mumford & Sons offered their final headlining set at the second weekend of Austin City Limits Music Festival on Sunday at Austin’s Zilker Park. The UK band led by Marcus Mumford welcomed New Orleans own Trombone Shorty and guitarist Celisse for NOLA-referencing traditional “House Of The Rising Sun.”

After kicking things off with “Babel,” Mumford & Sons began welcoming guests six songs into the set when Cellisse joined the group for their “Believe” and “Ditmas.” Trombone Shorty then joined for “House Of The Rising Sun.” Shorty and Celisse also helped Mumford & Sons perform the song at the New Orleans Jazz Fest earlier this year.

The amazing musicians reprised their role on the traditional tune with M&S. Trombone Shorty offered two very NOLA-sounding solos before Celisse tore into the song. As they did for the first weekend of ACL, Mumford & Sons also performed from the top of the front of house sound station, this time welcoming Irish artist Hozier for “Timshel,” which followed the first “October Skies” since 2019, as per SetlistFM stats, featuring the The Huston-Tillotson University Concert Choir who performed from the main stage. M&S and Hozeir then joined the choir on the main stage stage for “Awake My Soul” before Mumford & Sons went it alone for their 2012 hit “I Will Wait.”
