My Morning Jacket’s Jim James Announces Brief Solo Tour

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James has announced a brief run of solo appearances later this year. James will perform four shows in California, including a performance at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival.

Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown will host James on September 28 and the Ventura Theatre in Ventura will feature a solo performance on September 29. Both show will have Louisville-based Twin Limb on board for support. Back in June, James held a rare Jim James & Friends set in New York City, fronting a band made up of members of Twin Limb and Seth Kauffman of Floating Action.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will welcome James to the festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on September 30. The next night the MMJ frontman will will stick around the city to pair up with his Monsters Of Folk band mate Conor Oberst for a special performance at The Fillmore, which will feature support from MiWi La Lupa.

Tickets to the newly announced concerts go on sale this Friday, August 19 at 10 a .m. PT.
